Why should schools refer to JRB for early intervention and diversion instead of their own resources?Schools should be referring cases to the JRB only after they have exhausted the remedies available to them. The Juvenile Court would likely return a FWSN referral to the school if they hadnít done so. A referral to the JRB should be a schoolís last attempt to handle the situation in the community without court intervention.
If the JRB thinks that there are more things that can be done by the school before accessing the JRB, the JRB can always decline to accept the case. The JRB controls what cases they will hear.
